One thing to note with the Carrera and using it for commuting is the lack of mudguards, with it being such a well-equipped bike it is noticeable that it doesn’t have these and if you are commuting you would have to ensure that you have a long enough jacket on to prevent you from the spray. Otherwise it is a comfortable bike to use whilst commuting, the motor brings enough power with the comfort of the bike and the ease of handling. It has lights that have been integrated in a clever way also adding to the ease of commuting with this bike at any time of day.
With the range reaching about 30miles it is ideal for workers and the ability to charge the battery whilst at work to full capacity in 5 and a half hours.

Battery & Range
The battery has a 367Wh capacity which is good for up to 50miles so Carrera claims, but this doesn’t seem to be the case as when riding with a few climbs you can get roughly 39miles and if you are on a steady climb you can reach 30 miles, this is very similar with the competitors out there.
Quality & Build
The Carrera has 650b wheels that give an upright riding position, short wheelbase and has a wide bar to help make the ride feel easy with the ability to still navigate through traffic without any worries. It is a balanced ride with the wide, backswept bar shortening the reach, speeding up the steering and giving you a balanced head angle, the tires are 47mm and have enough cushioning to support some rougher terrain such as towpaths whilst commuting.
The tires are similar to slicks but have a tread in them that allows water to disperse, the rubber is hard but grippy even in adverse weather and they also offer puncture protection.
>With the Shimano’s nine-speed Alivio rear mech paired with the Altus shifter it showed to be accurate and reliable. The cranks are placed further apart with the Prowheel chainset meaning that you won’t be catching any materials in the chain. The gears are more suitable for commuting with the top being large enough for speed progression and the lowest with 45Nm of torque allowing you to scale some of the bigger hills.
The Tektro’s cable disc brakes don’t seem to react as quickly as they should but in wet weather they do have enough stopping power but with little control, this would be sufficient enough for commuting if you are mostly on paved surfaces.
